Following nine-month negotiations, a new contract between Alitalia and Jettainer has recently been sealed off. Within the next five years, the Italian carrier and the Frankfurt based company which is specialised in ULD management will cooperate on a constant basis.
"Things which take nine months to become alive are organic. We as ULD professionals see it as our task to support Alitalia in their efforts to out-perform." summarises Alexander Plümacher, Jettainers's CEO, the outcome of the negotiations.
Not only because of its good reputation in the aviation industry, but also on account of its worldwide competence in the area of ULD handling, Jettainer convinced Alitalia, the Italian flagship airline, to enter into the partnership. Through Jettainer's support, the Italian carrier will achieve various advantages such as cost reduction and an increasing amount of flexibility for its business. Furthermore, the agreed outsourcing of ULD services to Jettainer puts Alitalia's management in a better position to focus on its core business. Due to the win-win-situation, both partners are proud of their new baby.
Over the term of the cooperation, Jettainer will offer its entire existing knowhow, expertise and services to ensure the success of the new cooperation. Services which the logistic specialist will provide to the Italian carrier comprise of web-based ULD management, daily ULD control, inventory management activities and the entire maintenance of the ULD fleet.
The cooperation generates added value for the aviation industry beyond the mere interests of Alitalia. "We welcome Alitalia as our first Skyteam partner. All our customer airlines will immediately benefit from the wider network," states Alexander Plümacher. Due to a newly established ULD control desk in Rome which ensures a constantly reliable ULD supply at all Alitalia stations worldwide, ULD control standards have already improved for all other Jettainer customers in the Italian capital. In the long run, this growing network will offer various synergies to the aviation industry. Examples are the numerous cost savings through cost leverages which could be achieved by equipping large fleets of A320 aircrafts with an identical ULD fleet.
Through the Alitalia deal, Jettainer continues the success story of its innovative products and strengthens its position as the clear market leader in the competitive environment of ULD management. The company's success is based on standardised hardware components and tailor-made software solutions for the aviation industry.
