Who would possibly move with a thousand boxes, all of them completely empty? ULD management company Jettainer has just done so. Due to the construction of the new runway in Kelsterbach, the old ULD storage and distribution area had to move, making room for starting planes.
In this course, Jettainer has created “Jetthub FRA”, a new ULD storage area near Gate 27. From here, our ULD controllers will now manage over 730.000 movements annually for Lufthansa.
In addition to the new Jetthub area, Jettainer operates a second facility used to distribute ULDs for Lufthansa Cargo. The facility in direct proximity to the Lufthansa Cargo Center means quickest possible response to ULD demand, high flexibility and customized solutions for Lufthansa Cargo at Frankfurt airport.
Last weekend, 6.500 ULDs had to be transferred from the old area at gate 25 to the new location. “Sounds easy, but certainly is not”, says Andreas Seitz, Director Operations Jettainer. “Operation continues, the airlines continue to fly, so we have to manage the big move while normal operation is in full swing”.
The move was coordinated with TEAMProjekt. Sebastian Lorenz, project manager at Jettainer: ”We had an excellent cooperation with TEAMProjekt, our local handling service provider, working hand in hand with the colleagues from FRAPORT and Lufthansa Cargo”
