DENVER – March 29 , 2005 — TrenStar
Inc. was selected by Jettainer GmbH in Raunheim,
Germany, to develop a Web-based management
system for unit load devices (ULDs) used by
the global air cargo industry.
Jettainer selected TrenStar from among technology
vendors offering software capable of simultaneously
managing the ULD fleets of multiple airlines.
TrenStar worked closely with Jettainer's technology
team to capture and monitor ULD movement history,
flight information and inventory positions
at the more than 250 Jettainer stations worldwide
using BizTalk Server 2004, Microsoft's integration
and business process software development tool.
TrenStar's Web-based system allows Jettainer
to monitor ULD utilization in real time and
manage stock levels through system-generated
exception reports. The system is designed to
manage radio frequency identification-enabled
ULDs that Jettainer plans to introduce to improve
tracking and management.
Jettainer managing director Dr.
Mohammed Ali Seiraffi said, “After an exhaustive review
of offerings from a full representation of
technology vendors worldwide, we chose TrenStar's
product development team to design a critical
part of our ULD management solution. We concluded
that no vendor was better qualified than TrenStar
to manage ULDs and respond to the management
challenges unique to the airline industry.”
“We had to prove to Jettainer that we could
meet the challenge of interfacing a customized
management system with a number of existing
airline systems to extract the required data
on each ULD,” said TrenStar senior vice president
of global technology and development Wayne
Aronson. “This will be TrenStar's first container
management system for the airline industry,
and we are confident that we'll have the same
success as we've had in the brewing, chemical,
food, healthcare and synthetic rubber industries.”
TrenStar and Lufthansa Cargo AG (LCAG) formed
Jettainer in 2003 to create the first outsourced
solution for the airline industry that efficiently
manages and tracks ULDs and their contents
as they travel around the world and the first
to support the formation and management of
a global ULD pool.
