RAUNHEIM, GERMANY, 27 November 2006 - One year after signing an outsourcing deal for comprehensive ULD management services that included the sale and leaseback of US Airways’ ULD fleet, Jettainer has completed the roll out of its ULD management system “Jettware” throughout the carrier’s network.
Jettware is a state of the art technology solution that tracks and manages the ULD fleets of Jettainer’s customer airlines and provides powerful reporting functionalities, thereby creating unmatched transparency of ULD inventory, ULD location and status. Through its intuitive web interface Jettware is globally accessible on standard PC technology. At US Airways, Jettware replaces ULD tracking functions of Sabre.
To familiarize air cargo and ground handling staff of US Airways and its service providers with the innovative features of the system, trainings were recently held in Philadelphia, Charlotte and at Jettainer’s headquarters in Raunheim, Germany.
A total of 47 participants attended the 1-day courses. Under guidance of trainers from US Airways and Jettainer, all future Jettware users accessed the system through individual computer workstations and were lead through a syllabus familiarizing them with its functions, structure and graphical user interface. In addition, the training was used to refresh the participant’s knowledge and command of core ULD management processes.
“The event was a great success, and I feel quite confident our students now have a thorough working knowledge of their new Company expectations in regards to utilization of Jettware. Jettainer’s facility provided us with an excellent venue to train” said Steve Snodgrass, Training Specialist Ground Operations, US Airways.
Thorsten Friedrich, Jettainer’s Customer Service Manager for US Airways adds: “Working closely together with the responsible managers and training department of US Airways enabled us to achieve the learning objectives. All participants have been very open to embrace the new technology and were eager to find out how they can put Jettware’s capabilities to beneficial use in their daily work. The tremendous commitment and spirit to drive things forward in US Airways was omnipresent in all training session.”
Since the beginning of the five year contract between US Airways and Jettainer in October 2005, the US major has successfully continued the integration of the former US Airways and America West and dramatically improved its financial performance. Outsourcing ULD management to Jettainer is expected to save $2 million on ULD related costs over the duration of the contract.
The roll out of Jettware is the latest in a sequence of Jettainer’s initiatives aimed at constantly improving ULD management for US Airways. Says Leeanne Wintringer, Senior Manager, Cargo Services for US Airways: “The cooperation with Jettainer has been excellent from the start. They have gone out of their way to address our needs and to build and maintain a positive customer relationship. We are looking forward to continued successful business collaborations between Jettainer and US Airways!”
